A valuation for insurance is extremely important to ensure jewellery and watches are covered for the correct replacement value, with photography and as much detailed information as possible. We also offer valuations for probate.
On high value pieces examination checks may also be requested by your insurance company (e.g check that claws are securely holding a stone in the setting). We can supply you with the appropriate documentation for this purpose.
Charges for insurance valuations are £65 for the first item and £39 for each subsequent item.
Miscellaneous items can be listed as a total figure along with a group image which is £10 per item.
Each item of jewellery will be cleaned and inspected in great detail, stones measured and assessed, fully described, photographed and valued. You will be provided with two copies of your valuation and a pdf version is also available upon request.
We recommend getting an up-to-date valuation at least every 3-4 years. Some insurance companies may require more regular updated valuations and health checks so always check the terms and conditions of your insurance policy. If you have previously had a valuation carried out by our independent valuer then we can offer you a 20% discount on items being revalued by Alan Hayes. Please contact us for more information on this.
Our independent gemmologist and appraiser who is affiliated with the best associations in the country* has over 40 years' experience and will provide you with a detailed bound document with images of your jewellery, a loose copy for your insurance company and a PDF digital copy if required.
